~ In 1990 BARRAZA was commissioned to design and manufacture a holiday Velvet collection for Westminster Lace, a high end specialty chain. Purchasing the fabric from the showroom in NYC, BARRAZA was unaware where the velvet was actually produced. Fifteen years later, after being introduced to Stonington, CT where she would open a retail boutique in 2003, Barraza realized that the origin of the many hundreds of yards she had ordered was actually made at the Wimpfheimer Velvet Mill in Stonington, CT! This dress, made from their Melovel Velvet, is now part of the exhibit at the present Velvet Mill which has been converted to a destination of artist studios, shops, and restaurants. BARRAZA also warehouses at the present Velvet Mill where customers can find unique sample items to purchase by appointment only at 860-535-2025 ~
